Dr. Al-Raisi sees INTERPOL as integral to the future of policing. To deliver a more effective and modern organization, he is focused on enhancing collaboration, evolving technology, and driving transparent decision-making.
Allow me to present my vision for INTERPOL’s next chapter.
First, I will make sure that the diversity of all members is fairly and effectively represented. Second, we must strengthen INTERPOL’s decision-making framework. And in everything we do, open discussion and collaboration must be a priority. Working closely with the new Executive Committee and Secretary-General Jürgen Stock, we will ensure all of the tools are in place to implement our new 5-year plan.
Visionary, collaborative, and transparent decision-making will drive us forward.
Major General Dr. Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi,
Speech to INTERPOL General Assembly, November 2021
As an inclusive global policing organization, INTERPOL must continuously evolve in order to tackle emerging threats.
In line with the roadmap agreed by the Executive Committee, Dr. Al-Raisi has centered his tenure around four key pillars:
To continue to be relevant, INTERPOL must ensure that the interests of all its members are fairly and effectively represented.
The organization must also strive to provide technical and advisory support to the emerging policing challenges its members are facing, including climate change, growing cybersecurity and terrorism threats.
In order for INTERPOL to better protect and serve, the organization must continuously improve its governance and processes.
The strengthening of the organization’s decision-making framework, in particular, is a key item on Dr. Al-Raisi’s agenda as President of INTERPOL. This process will, in turn, allow INTERPOL to effectively deploy its policing capacities and services at the service of its member states, as well as support the development of research and capacity-building programs.
INTERPOL’s legitimacy is founded not only on its broad representation, but also on its credibility.
To uphold its credibility as an international organization, INTERPOL must apply the strictest standards of transparency and accountability to its governance processes.
Building a strong and resilient international policing infrastructure requires a continuous transfer of knowledge and technologies between INTERPOL members.
As a global leader in policing innovation and technologies, the UAE is in a prime position to coordinate the exchange of knowledge and best practices between INTERPOL members and place international cooperation at the fore of the organization’s priorities over the coming years.
