Today, INTERPOL ’s 93rd General Assembly convenes once again in the historic city of Marrakech for our annual meeting.

As we approach this year’s Assembly, I am reminded of the profound responsibility and privilege it is to serve the global law enforcement community. This gathering is not only a time to assess how far we have come, but also to chart a bold course for the future of international policing.

This General Assembly is particularly meaningful for me as it will be my last as President. At the end of this Assembly, a new President will be elected to continue leading our organization with vision and integrity.

As we approach this important milestone, I would like to focus on three key priorities for this year:

  1. The approval of the INTERPOL Strategic Framework: A five-year roadmap was developed in close collaboration with the Executive Committee and the Secretary General. The plan focuses primarily on advancing digital transformation, strengthening governance and internal policies, building capacity and raising the readiness of officers worldwide. It is designed to strengthen our collective capacity to combat transnational crime, enhance operational effectiveness and adapt to emerging threats. As my mandate comes to an end, I believe it is crucial for us to cement this framework and continue our progress with unwavering commitment.
  2. The election of the next President of INTERPOL: At the end of this General Assembly, a new President will take over the leadership of this organization for the next four years. Each candidate brings a unique set of skills and experience which will serve INTERPOL and the global policing community well. I am confident that our members will select a leader who embodies the highest standards of integrity, vision and dedication, ensuring INTERPOL remains in safe hands for the future.
  3. Advancing cross-border collaboration: Ensuring efficient and agile cross-border collaboration and data sharing remains at the heart of our mission. I am proud of the progress we have made and look forward to developing more innovative solutions which will build further trust, ease intelligence sharing and strengthen partnerships that transcend national boundaries.

Since 1957, the Kingdom of Morocco has been a valued partner to INTERPOL, playing a vital role in our work by hosting key meetings and serving as a central hub for training centers in the MENA region. It is especially meaningful to return to Marrakech for the General Assembly, marking the second time this vibrant city has brought together our global community, following its first hosting in 2007. Morocco’s sustained engagement reflects a deep commitment to global policing.

As we gather in Marrakech, I look forward to connecting with colleagues from around the world. Together, let us continue our shared mission to make the world a safer place for all.
