Earlier this week, the UAE was ranked as the world's safest country to walk alone at night. Keeping people and communities safe is our essential mission in policing and this has been my life’s work in UAE law enforcement.

If elected President at its General Assembly next week, I will bring this same focus and commitment to INTERPOL. I will work to strengthen collaboration, enhance technology, and achieve sustainable financing for the organization, in support of our common pursuit of safer communities around the world.

INTERPOL must also consider how other urgent trends and events impact policing. For example, we must understand how climate change will impact public safety. And we must do more to advance women into senior positions and ensure sure that policing better reflects the diverse communities it serves.

I am incredibly proud that the UAE is one of the safest and most progressive countries in the world, a place where people of more than 200 nationalities and many different religions can live, work and worship together peacefully and safely. The UAE also is the leading force for positive change in the world’s most difficult region. We prioritize the protection of human rights at home and abroad, including the promotion of women's empowerment, religious co-existence, and acceptance of people of determination.

Throughout my career I have seen what it takes to facilitate effective coordination between agencies and modernize operations to propel police organizations into the future, and I am eager to bring that same focus and dedication to the role of INTERPOL President.
